Cassidy Group have completed a development of 32 affordable homes on the site of the former Courthouse public house for our clients Whitefriars Housing Group. The development consists of 23 x 2 & 3 bedroom houses and 9 x 2 bedroom apartments built to Code Level 3 for sustainable homes and Lifetime Homes standard. The development has been supported by the Homes and Communities Agency through their affordable housing programme.

The Chair of Whitefriars Housing Group, Michael Rawson, said " With the prolonged economic downturn, it is more important than ever that we continue to increase the number of affordable homes for people in Coventry. I'm really proud of the high quality and energy-efficient properties that we have built there".

Councillor Ed Ruane, Cabinet Member for Neighbourhood Action, Housing, Leisure and Culture, welcomed the new development. He said "National policies are creating the worst housing crisis in a generation and Coventry, like most cities in the country, is crying out for quality social housing. It is great to see this site brought back into use in this way, but we have to recognise that the level of funding received from the Homes and Communities Agency in this scheme will no longer be available for future housing developments. Therefore, we have to look at offering discounted land or free land if we want housing developments to continue in other parts of our city as we can't afford to stand still if we want Coventry to grow".
